Overview

The Magpie Magic CloseUp Stage System is an elegant performance surface designed to enhance the theatrical appearance of your close up performances. The Floating Pillow Top is a high quality velvet covered rigid working surface that is constructed from 1/2 inch veneer core plywood. The surface is padded and superb for card, coin or ball magic, with enough spring in the surface to ensure a smooth quiet working surface, but not so much that the surface feels overly spongy. The Stage Table Base and 3 Sided Rails are constructed from cabinet grade plywood and black walnut with custom designed molding, feet and rails.

Every aspect of the CloseUp Stage System has been painstakenly designed from the ground up, taking into consideration the proportions and area of the working surface, the height of the full system, the strength of construction and a unique profile for the table in all its configuration. The Floaing Pillow Top working surface is itself proportional to a Golden Rectangle which provides a subtle attraction to it. Without the 3 Sided Rails attached, the Floating Pillow Top appears to float above the Stage Table Base, providing additional appeal and elegance.

The Magpie Magic CloseUp Stage System is designed with modularity in mind. The table can be used in 4 different configurations:

1. The Floating Pillow Top - attached to the Stage Table Base - with 3 Sided Rails
2. The Floating Pillow Top - attached to the Stage Table Base - without 3 Sided Rails
3. The Floating Pillow Top alone - detached from the Stage Table Base - with 3 Sided Rails
4. The Floating Pillow Top alone - detached from the Stage Table Base - without 3 Sided Rails

The Floating Pillow Top is easily removed with two thumbscrews so that you can use the Pillow Top alone as a rigid closeup pad or change the top for a different color/material top. Being easily removed also means you can easily reupholster the top yourself if you damage the velvet surface, preserving the longevity of the table. The table is built to last a lifetime and it is such study construction that a fully grown adult male can stand on the table without breaking it (this is not recommended though).

Craftsmanship

Each table is handmade in our workshop. All moldings, feet and trim are a custom created design with a unique profile. The walnut is given a light stain, multiple Polycrylic™ clearcoats, and waxed to provide a durable rich satin finish. The Floating Pillow Top is given a Scotch Guard™ treatment to preserve the surface.
