Custom Monogramming is Now Available

Custom Monogramming is Now Available!

All our cups that come with the Deluxe Velvet Bag (Large) now include the option for you to add custom monogramming to the bag. Additionally you can purchase our bags separately, with or without custom monogramming, in our Accessories category.
[Click here to visit the Accessories category]

It has always bothered me that in the past RNT and RNT2 merchandise included a bag with the big bold words "Ring N Things Magic" embroidered on it. While that might be fine for collectors, it is not really practical for performers who would like to really use the bag. Who wants to carry around their cups in a bag that says "magic trick" or "famous brand magic company" on the bag? Not me, and if I don't like it, I'm sure there are plenty of others that feel the same way. But at the same time, I would really like the bag to have some custom embroidered decoration on it.

My solution is to put the custom embroidery to work FOR YOU. When you purchase a set of cups that includes the Deluxe Velvet Bag (Large) you have the option to include custom monogramming on the bag. Just provide us with ONE or TWO initials in the text box and select one of the YES options from the Monogramming drop down list and we will embroider your initials on the bag in an attractive monogram style with metallic gold or silver thread.

Which color thread should you use? Whether you choose a purple, red, royal blue or black bag, both silver or gold thread look great on the bag colors. So it depends upon the cup and your personal preference. If you purchase a Chrome, Aluminum or Silver cup, I recommend a silver metallic thread, but if you purchase a Copper, Brass or Antique Bronze finish I would recommend a gold metallic thread. We believe these combination make the best looking contrast for the cups.

The Paul Fox cups are the exception to this. Each set of Paul Fox Cups, Paul Fox Mini Cups and the Paul Fox Solid Cup only come with a PF Monogrammed bag. If you want a custom embroidered monogram of YOUR initials on a bag for your PF cups, you will have to add one into your order from the Accessories category.

I'm still trying to work out a solution for the Deluxe Velvet Bags (XLarge) that are included with street size cups and cups that are just too big for our Deluxe Velvet Bag (Large), like the Mendoza Combo Cups, Phoenix II Cups and the Tall Traditional Cups. So far it's been a problem getting a good embroidery job on these bags. They are a very heavy velvet and 14" tall. Every attempt to embroider these bags has failed. But, I still hope to be able to offer these bags with a custom embroidery option someday as well.

RNT II - Under New Management

Cleveland, OH -- March 1, 2009 -- After months of speculation, RNT II Magic manufacturer is SOLD.

Magpie Magic, an Ohio Limited Liability Company announces its acquisition of the assets of Virginia based RNT II Magic, Inc. RNT II Magic, Inc. & Rings 'N Things is a magic apparatus manufacturer with a world-wide customer base and has been widely renowned in the magic industry for the hand-spun metal products and exotic wood products since 1976.

Acquired assets include the trade names of "RNT II" and "Rings 'N Things", the Paul Fox monogram registered trademark, the RNT2.com domain name, the original designs and tooling for the Rings 'N Things & RNT II product lines, exclusive manufacturing rights for both product lines, and existing inventory.

Don Buckley, President of Magpie says, "The Rings 'N Things and RNT II products are great products. The product line is extensive and sophisticated. The tooling is in good condition and there is so much of it that I have, overnight, now become the largest manufacturer of Cups and Balls in the world. I look forward to continuing the product line and keeping the legacy alive."

The RNT II and Ring 'N Things products include 20 different styles of cups for Cups and Balls and 10 different styles of Chop Cups. Of these cups, almost all can be produced in 5 different metals and 6 different finishes, resulting in approximately 300 cup variations. Buckley says, "Cups and Balls are our core product. It's an ambitious project. I want to increase the amount of inventory on each variation to reduce special order situations; additionally, I intend to bring back some products that were discontinued and I am introducing Sterling Silver as a new metal that we will be using for producing cups. I'm excited!"

Regarding the question of anticipated changes to the existing product line, Buckley responds, "Over the last five years Jake Zimmerman has put an extensive amount of work and modifications into the tooling for the metal-spun product line. Some older designs were improved and entirely new designs were created. There is little improvement to be made with regard to the design of those products. My goal is to maintain the standard of excellence that has already been achieved. I do however have designs for a modification to two of the existing cups that will result in an entirely new line of cups that are really going to turn some heads."

Additionally, Magpie Magic states that it intends to continue the production of magic apparatus constructed from exotic woods RNT II has developed over the last five years. Buckley states, "I have at my disposal a master craftsman furniture maker who also happens to be a magician whose specialty is hand carving and custom scroll work. The half-ton of exotic and rare woods from all over the world purchased with RNT II is already in the hands of my woodworker, and we will initially be focusing on producing exotic wands, tables and cases, introducing cups and bowls later. It is a priority of Magpie Magic to offer a quality wooden alternative to the carrying bag that compliments and secures cups, as no one is currently making such a thing. The initial table designs that we have worked out are all high-end tables for the home parlor, but we are looking forward to building some quality light-weight portable designs that are affordable to street performers. Table tops that are portable enough to replace a close-up mat, but large enough to be usable are already under construction, as are a beautiful array of wands."

Magpie Magic’s new RNT2.com website is near completion, with an expected launch date of April 1st, 2009. Buckley states that the website, which will employ the CS Cart software solution, is the primary distribution channel for a world-wide customer base. "The new website allows customers to be able to browse the product line 24 hours a day, view stock quantities, place an order, choose a shipping carrier and shipping cost that is calculated in real time, track the progress of their order and shipment, communicate directly with us, write and read reviews of the products & access their account and order history. Using CS Cart, we are now able to instantly apply promotions and discounts; give the customer incentives and offer Reward Points to increase customer retention. As RNT II’s products have always and will continue to speak for themselves, our success will be determined by the level of satisfaction that our customers receive. Through our new website, we are looking forward to being able to bring to magicians not only the highest quality of products they have come to expect from RNT and RNT II, but the highest level of customer service imaginable.”

Overview

Our Silver Disco Ball 1 7/8 Inch Load Balls are slightly larger than a golf ball and ideal for our Paul Fox Mini Cups and make stunning loads for cups with narrower inner diameter mouths.

Because of their smaller diameter they are excellent for palming in the hand as they will fit comfortably in finger palm.

This ball is slightly too large to fit into a Mini Don Alan cup, but looks great when it appears to be tossed out of the Mini Don or the Le Petite Don.

For a larger cup like the Don Alan Full Size, these balls make a nice surprise when used as an interim load and provide good misdirection to cover loading a larger ball (like a regulation baseball) into the cup.

Green Sparkling Balls - Dragon Scales | 7/8 Inch | Individual

Overview

Each of our Crochet Balls is professionally hand-crocheted with the highest quality cotton/polyester thread over a hardwood core ball. Our hand-crocheted balls are preferred by most cups and balls performers for several reasons:

The crocheted jacket mutes the sound of a ball secretly added to a cup

The hardwood core provides a solid inner ball that makes handling easier

Under normal use and following our maintenance guidelines below, crocheted jacket balls will last for years

The ranges of colors we produce provide a rainbow of color choices so you can select colors that contrast with your working surface, the cups and your wardrobe or costume.

Remember to select a ball color that will really show up against your working surface. It would not make much sense to use a dark ball on a black mat, or to use a white ball if you wear a white costume. The spectator must always be able to SEE the balls even when held in your hand in front of your body, or when they are simply resting on your working surface. Brighter colors will be more visible (and will make the balls look larger) from a greater distance.

Craftsmanship

The first thing one must understand about a quality ball for the performance of cups and balls is the difference that a hardwood core makes. A hardwood core allows the balls to be machine laundered safely without the hazards that are associated with a rubber, latex or cork core. A rubber or latex core ball will break down over time as it is exposed to water and detergent. A cork core ball will absorb water and detergents and cause the ball to mold and deteriorate. The hardwood core results in a ball of adequate weight with long term durability.

The second thing one must understand about a quality ball for the performance of cups and balls is the difference between a "knit" ball and a "crochet" ball. A knit ball is constructed from a section of yarn that has been knitted (usually machine knitted) and then retro-fitted to the ball. This results in a bulkier, loose fitting jacket over the core. A crocheted ball is constructed with the thread actually hand-crocheted around the ball. This results in a tighter, custom fit jacket over the core. The hand-crocheted jacket results in a superior ball.

Maintenance

Our Crochet Balls can be safely laundered in cold water (to preserve color) and detergent. It is highly recommended that the balls be placed in a lingerie bag or some other mesh bag that would be used for delicate fabrics. This ensures that the balls will not get trapped in recesses in the washer or get lost in the washer. Simply put the balls in a mesh bag and throw them in with other cold water laundry to keep them clean and fresh. Air-dry the balls. It is not recommended that the balls be placed in a dryer.

Okito Coin Box Set | Macassar Ebony

Overview

The Moonlight Magic Okito Coin Box Sets consist of three boxes: a regular, slotted, and, Boston box, and a matching lid. These are designed to be used with U.S. HALF DOLLAR size coins. The boxes hold FOUR coins in a stack. They will also accommodate an expanded shell. They are bottom-heavy and have a wide rim that facilitates the balancing of a coin. They are properly weighted. Their design insures that the lids do not "hang up" upon removal. If you like coin magic, you will love this set.

Craftsmanship

Each Moonlight Magic Okito Coin Box is made from solid brass, and, trimed with wood. Moonlight Magic Productions says this about the box: "The nature of the design of these boxes, which, are tricky to manufacture (no pun), dictates that the wood trim around the outside be somewhat lacking in thickness. Some of the woods, even though they are classified as hardwoods, can be brittle, and, can crack easily when struck as a result of some of the moves I have seen used by some magicians. Some of these moves are interesting, and, impressive, as well as, maybe useful, but, should be employed at your own risk. One of my Ebony sets was ruined when a talented young fellow at a convention decided to use one of these moves, throwing the lid at the box, or visa-versa. I didn't notice until later that the wood was cracked as a result of the impact. So, please consider the routines, and, moves that may be involved in the way you intend to use these boxes before purchasing. I know some performers who have been using these boxes for a long time, and, in very lengthy routines. They have been holding up very well with no problems for several years. We are keeping track of those in heavy use to see if any problems develop. So far, so good, but, we are sure these performers are not subjecting the boxes to the same rough/risky treatment as mentioned above, so please keep this information in mind when considering a purchase, and, by the way, thank you for considering a purchase! "

Mini 3/4 oz Shot Glass

Overview

The Mini Shot Glass, standing only 1 7/8 inches (4.7625 cm) tall, is an ideal size for our Paul Fox Mini Combo Cups, Paul Fox Mini Chop Cup and Don Alan Mini Chop Cups, but could be used as loads for the standard Paul Fox Mini Cups.

For quite a few years magicians have been using shot glasses with Combo Cup sets and Chop Cup to perform Ron Wilson's segment and Gary Ouellet's routine, where an empty glass is placed on a table and covered with a handkerchief. Then a ball is placed on the handkerchief and the entire glass, hanky and ball is covered with a cup. Upon lifting the cup, either the ball has disappeared (as in Gary Ouellet's Two Goblets routine), or the ball is now beneath the handkerchief and in the glass (as in Ron Wilson's routine). This is a very magical segment that can be included into any Combo Cups routine or Chop Cup routine, if you have a glass that fits under the cup. Now, after combing the world, we have finally found a small glass that fits under the cups listed above so this magial segment can be included when performing with miniature cups.

Additionally, these Mini Shot Glasses could be produced as loads from under a set of PF Mini Cups.

Craftsmanship

Each Mini Shot Glass is made from real glass, not plastic.

Specifications

Benson Bowl | Copper | Mirror Finish

Overview

The Benson Bowl is a classic of magic. A sleight of hand effect that, when executed properly, leaves an audience amazed and stunned at your skills. The bowl is completely ungimmicked and the entire effect is performed via sleight of hand methods, meaning the bowl and balls can be examined by your audience with no fears of them detecting anything. The bowl is designed to make the magician's life a little easier because the bowl has what appears to be a base spun into the bottom of the bowl, which provides a small 1/2 inch high platform for the bowl to sit on when it is mouth up. But this small base also provide other benefits. It provides a sure-grip handle for you to use to pick the bowl up when it is mouth down. It also provides slightly more headroom inside the bowl when it is mouth down - meaning that your loads can be a full 1/2 inch larger than the bowl appears to accommodate. Lastly, the bowl is finished a rolled mouth bead that protects the edges of the bowl's mouth and your hands.
Included are 4 sponge balls and the Original Don Alan Bowl Routine, published by Magic, Inc.

Craftsmanship

Super Street Cups | Copper | Bright Chrome

Overview

The Super Street Cups are a large street cup. The height of each cup is the same as the Paul Fox Chick Cup. The inside diameter of the cup is the same as a Gazzo Street Cup. The saddle on this cup is huge, with a 2 inch diameter and a 1/8" depth. You can safely place your jumbo loads on the saddle and they are definitely not falling off, even in a strong wind! When the working balls are placed on the saddle of these cups, the saddle is wide enough and the dimple deep enough that the balls are not going to fall of the cups. What makes these cups extraordinary is the size of the attic space between the cups. Gazzo cups are shorter so the attic is shallower, the PF Chick Cups are more tapered so the attic space is narrower, but with the Super Street Cups you have a well rounded, wide and tall attic to hold 3 nested 1 1/8" balls between the cups.

We only offer these cups in .064 gauge heavy copper.

Craftsmanship

Each cup is hand spun from the original RNT II tooling in heavy .064 copper and plated with a Bright Nickel Chrome exterior and stripped down to a satin copper finish in its interior. The interior is a non-reflective flat satin finish.
